How To Get The Tom Holland Haircut

How To Get The Tom Holland Haircut

How To Get The Tom Holland Haircut

by

Tom Holland became a household name when he landed the role of Peter Parker in the Spiderman franchise's newest reboot in the Marvel superhero universe. Ladies love him - because what’s not to love? He’s charming. He loves his mom, even though he’s achieved worldwide fame. The man even sings and dances. And, as if that wasn't enough, he also has really great hair.

Even if you’re not a swanky Spiderman movie star with a British accent, you can still rock that classic, polished hairstyle.

What Is The Tom Holland Cut?

The Tom Holland cut is a simple but classy mid-length cut that’s cropped shorter on the side and brushed over to one side on the top. This haircut is easy to style, making it accessible to most guys who want to experiment with a new look. The beauty of this cut is that, even though it only takes a few extra moments to comb into place as you’re getting ready, you’ll still look like you made an effort for work or a hot date or anything in between.

The basic premise of the Tom Holland haircut is that the top of the hair is kept long enough to comb over and the back and sides of the hair are scissor-cut and tapered. (This is different than getting a fade, where your barber will use an electric shaver to crop your hair much closer at the sides of your head.) To really nail the Holland look, you’ll want to leave the top of your hair just long enough to comb to the side.

You do have a bit of freedom when it comes to exactly how long you want to keep your hair - for example, Tom kept it shorter on the promotional tour for Infinity Wars than he did while shooting the movie - but the basic concept remains the same.

Will This Cut Look Good On Me?

Different hairstyles flatter different face shapes. Before you get too hung up on to a particular new hairstyle, consider whether the cut is right for the face shape that you have.

Mid-length tapered cuts like this look best on rectangular-shaped faces, in which the forehead, cheekbones, and jaw are about the same width and the face is longer than it is wide. The best cuts for rectangular faces leave the hair a little longer at the sides of the head. This length adds a little volume to balance the difference between the length and width of the face.

You can wear this hairstyle with a square-shaped face as well, which is similar to the rectangular shape, but the length and width of the face are more equal. However, in this case, you should keep the hair a little more closely cropped at the sides so that you don’t make your face appear wider than it is tall.

How Do I Get the Tom Holland Hairstyle?

Before you go to the barber, you’ll need to grow your hair out to just longer than you want it to be after it’s cut. If your hair is short now then this could take a few months. You may also need to get your hair cut, and maybe more than once, so that you don't look scraggly as it grows out.

Next, when you go in to get your haircut, ask your barber for a medium-length scissor cut blended into the sides. If you have thicker hair, you can ask them to add some texture to make it easier to style; if you have curly hair, you can just use your natural texture.

If you’re not confident that you know what to ask for, bring a picture to use as a reference. When you show it to your barber, be specific about what you like and why.

When you get home with your hew haircut, the styling part is easy: just use a little bit of styling product and brush your hair off to one side. To truly emulate the Tom Holland look, use a paste or cream that will add a little shine; you could just as easily use a matte clay product if you prefer. To leave a little volume on top, gently brush your hair into place with your hand rather than using a comb.

Final Thoughts

Some celebrity haircuts are a little too high-maintenance to experiment with just for fun, but the Tom Holland haircut requires only a few extra moments in the morning to style before you walk out the door.

The clean, polished lines of this look are appropriate for a big presentation at work, but not too dressed up for a football Saturday with the boys, versatile enough for either date night or dinner with your parents.

You’ll even be able to play with the length of this cut over time so that you can change up your look without completely changing your style.
